Superstition books
This is kinda important, and its not for me really. I need to know of a real good (if it exists) book about the mountians. Its got to have a decent content about related paranormal activity. Especially UFOs, and some info about any beheadings, etc. The writer of the book needs to still be alive also. Does a book like this exist ?
I'm new so please be nice to me !
IFTG,
welcome to the forum!
There are several members well versed in the paranormal aspect of "the Mountain". You might want to send a personal message to Wiolawa, as she seems to be the most vocal on the subject. She is listed in the "Memberlist". Your photos are quite nice...good eye!
There are many old diggings along the road to the First Water trailhead, as well as many old Saguaro markers. It's a great place to look around.
Don't become discouraged if your search does not always lead to Gold.
By the way...I'm sure your talk of decapitation has raised the eyebrows of a few of the regulars...you don't happen to dress in black, do you?

There was a book published in the 70s titled "WEIRD AMERICA" by Jim Brandon. It was a state-by-state analysis of the various paranormal goings on throughout the country. Entries included information on UFOs, Bigfoot, Lake Monsters, weird archealogical finds, etc etc.
I recollect that there was a write up on the Superstitions that drew heavily on Curt Gentrys' THE KILLER MOUNTAINS. Talked about caves that couldnt be photographed, pygmy Indians, folks losing their heads, people living on top of the Needle, etc. Dont know of any books off hand that delve into your subject matter but I imagine you can find an article or two
that talks about the paranormal aspect of the Mountains.
Come to think of it, ESPERANZA by Don Shade has some material that is "out there".

There are some novels, too, by Kay Kizzier (sp?) that have Superstitions-UFO type story lines. I believe these are available at the Superstition Mountain Museum.
And here's something completely different:

i think i checkout out every book you guys mentioned. Most seemed or were fictional, still not sure though.
Need to find a guest for a radio program one night this summer. The author of a book would preferably be this person. Someone who can really talk, who knows every paranormal tale the mountian holds. And also obviously somebody who is knowledgeable with the LDM. Still looking. How about that OK Corral stable guy. Is he the unnoficial "captian" of all this treasure searching ? Or doesnt someone like that exist.

IFTG,
I honestly don't know of anyone or any books that credibly deal with this subject. You'll find a few unusual experiences related on this site in various threads, but in my experience people who have them don't particularly want to talk about them. And, I don't personally know anyone who has had any sort of UFO experience in the Superstitions. Ron Feldman, the "OK corral stable guy" and owner of this site, is as knowledgable as anyone in the world about the mountains, but I doubt he'd want to talk about UFO's. I might be wrong.
Unless this is an Art Bell-type talk show, you might want to contact Ron or Tom Kollenborn to get a real authority for your radio guest. There is plenty in those mountains that is wonderous, mysterious, and sublime, without resorting to aliens and such.
Whatever, good luck.

IFTG,
A couple of years ago, "Nicoh" started a thread on this site asking about this same sort of thing. I'm not sure what all he came up with, but you might PM him and see if he can help you out.
You know, it's funny how the Superstitions attract attention of this sort. Look through the old articles from the 1800's, and you see lots of legends of gold, but not very much paranormal. Then we started hearing about the Goddess of Lightning, pygmy Indians, giant snakes, etc. These kinds of tales got more and more popular and numerous as the 20th century progressed, until now we have UFO's, aliens, King Kong, and all sorts of mystical, spiritual, and New Age groups having psychic experiences there.
I skimmed some of the other threads on that other site - Jeez Louise! Is it that there are just more Cosmic Cadets out there now, or are the Supes becoming the trendy place for this sort of thing, or what?
What is it about these mountains?
